spanのwidth指定 css

・IEだと span で width 指定できるけど
　Firefoxの場合、span では、width指定が有効にならない場合があるなぁ。
　なぜだろう。
span を div に変更すると、 IEでもFirefox でも width指定が有効なんだけどね。
